Chelsea are set for a crucial week in their pursuit of Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown. Fofana is the Blues’ primary centre-back target this summer, although they saw their latest bid rejected and are yet to meet Leicester’s asking price.
Having seen their opening two offers knocked back, Chelsea launched a third, two days after Fofana was left out of the Leicester squad for their game with Southampton as he was not in the right ‘frame of mind’ to play.
But the Midlands outfit once again turned down the bid, which was around £70m in total, with £60m up front and £10m in add-ons.
Leicester are looking for around £85m, which would be a world record fee for a defender, but Chelsea are yet to front up the required cash.
