Celtic are preparing to launch a second bid for Arne Engels as they come up with a big number in a bid to test Augsburg's resolve.
The Belgian wants to join Brendan Rodgers' side before the window closes. But the Bundesliga side are sticking to their asking price after an opening offer of £6.5million was turfed out while the Hoops search for a successor to Matt O'Riley following his record-breaking move to Brighton.
The Bavarian side are said to be keen to keep the 20-year-old but he could be sold for an offer in the region of £10m-12m. Sky now claim the Hoops will make a second bid in the region of £9million to try to land the midfielder.
But with Celtic ramping up their pursuit of players before the transfer deadline, a move for Gustav Isaksen looks to be off the table.
