BERLIN — Canada star Alphonso Davies left Bayern Munich's game at Hertha Berlin on Saturday with an apparent hamstring injury.

The 22-year-old fullback from Edmonton limped off in the 63rd minute, holding the back of his right leg. Davies appeared to get hurt when he lunged at Hertha Berlin striker Marco Richter in a bid to get the ball.

He eventually ended his chase, pulling up while holding the back of his leg. He looked uncomfortable as he walked off the field accompanied by Bayern trainers.

Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann said in his post-match news conference that he would know more Sunday on the extent of Davies injury.

AL-RAYYAN, Qatar: O Canada, the wait remains. Alphonso Davies had the chance to score his nation’s first-ever World Cup goal, to grab a quick lead on Belgium. As Davies readied for the spot kick in the 11th minute after a hand ball, red-clad Canadian fans at the other end of Ahmed bin Ali Stadium buzzed in anticipation for a moment decades in the making.
DOHA: Michy Batshuayi’s first-half goal proved enough for a below-par Belgium to squeeze to a 1-0 win over a Canada side playing their first World Cup match for 36 years on Wednesday. Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois saved Alphonso Davies’ early penalty and Batshuayi opened the scoring against the run of play in the 44th minute. John Herdman’s Canada, roared on by their vocal support, also had another strong penalty appeal turned down and dominated the second half to no avail.
Canada missed a penalty and were controversially denied two more as Michy Batshuayi's strike condemned them to a narrow defeat against Belgium on their first World Cup appearance in 36 years.
