Cadwell BSB: Brilliant Buchan lands victory double

bikesportnews.com

Synetiq BMW’s Danny Buchan reeled off his second British Superbike Championship victory and third podium of the Bank Holiday weekend at Cadwell Park, a brace of results that have seen him surge right back into Showdown contention. Having arrived at round seven seemingly well out of the BSB title challenge having slipped some 60 points down on provisional eighth-place sitter Tommy Bridewell, Buchan ends it just 14 points adrift of Rich Energy OMG Yamaha’s Kyle Ryde after a career-making weekend yielding two wins and one podium.

Landing his and Synetiq BMW’s first win of the year in race two, Buchan was in similarly formidable form for the final race of the afternoon as he hustled his way past OMG’s Bradley Ray mid-way around the opening lap to secure a lead he’d maintain to the flag.

Indeed, just as in race two, while Buchan was chased hard by Ray and Oxford Products Ducati’s Bridewell, neither were close enough for an attack, the pair settling for the same podium spots as earlier in the day.

It means race one winner Ray rises back to the head of the overall standings following his win and two second place results, while he is also now right on the shoulder of McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran for podium credits too.
