Beating Politics, How 'Substitute' Suyash Made 'Impact' In IPL Amid Father's Cancer Battle

Hailing from a lower middle-class background with no 'Godfather' in a corrupt cricket environment, Suyash Sharma is that quintessential Delhi cricketer, who is not a product of the system.

In fact, he has got success despite the system. Not only he had to struggle due to lack of backing, he also had to deal with the stress related to the illness of his father who is fighting the dreaded cancer disease.

Delhi keeps churning this kind of phenomenal talent with monotonic regularity and long-haired 19-year-old from Bhajanpura in East Delhi is latest to join the bandwagon.

Making his debut as an 'impact substitute', the unheralded Suyash took 3 for 30 in KKR's 81-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore.

With Jason Roy pulling a hamstring while fielding, the chase was out of question and Dhoni's young pace troika of Akash Singh (1/29 in 4 overs),Matheesa Pathirana (1/27 in 4 overs) and Tushar Deshpande (2/43 in 4 overs) along with seasoned spinners Moeen Ali (1/20 in 1 over), Maheesh Theekshana (2/32 in 4 overs) and Ravindra Jadeja (1/34 in 3 overs) restricted KKR to 186 for 8 in 20 overs.
It was a sight that has rarely played at the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chasing a paltry target of 136 against defending champions Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants had reached 105/1 in 14 overs. With just 31 needed off the next six overs and half-centurion KL Rahul at the crease, a win was within grasp for LSG. But then what transpired shocked everybody.  GT bowlers checked the run flow as they conceded 19 runs and took two wickets in the next five overs. Going into the last over, LSG needed 12 off the last six balls. Though it was tough, it was not impossible, especially with a set Rahul, batting on 66, at the crease.

On the penultimate ball of the match, Arjun dismissed SRH's Bhuvneshwar Kumar to pick up his maiden IPL wicket, a feat which his father failed to achieve during his time in the cash-rich league.
Skipper David Warner found his perfect hitting arc after Ishant Sharma rolled back the years but even then Delhi Capitals stuttered badly in a modest chase before beating Kolkata Knight Riders by four wickets on Thursday to stay afloat in this edition of the IPL. Warner, DC's best batter this season, was struggling with his strike-rate in earlier games but on Thursday, he smashed 57 off 41 with the target being reached with four balls to spare.
Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bangalore are practically synonymous when it comes to the Indian Premier League. The star India batter has played for the franchise since the inception of the tournament back in 2008 and he has emerged as a mega star to the RCB fans. In a recent interaction with former India cricketer Robin Uthappa on JioCinema, Kohli opened up on his partnership with RCB over the years and even spoke about another franchise that came close to acquiring his services. However, the former India skipper was quick to point out that his plan for his career was not aligned with that team.
