An 'avoid the area' warning was put in place after an oil spill closed a road in Tameside on Tuesday afternoon (October 1). Police and fire crews were called to Quarry Rise and Quarry Street between Dukinfield and Stalybridge to reports of the major spillage.

The road was later blocked in both directions by emergency services. The cause of the oil spillage has not yet been confirmed by Tameside Council.
