Albion Rovers boss Sandy Clark insisted their 5-0 hammering of Stirling Uni had ‘been coming’ , as he praised two-goal hero Peter Mendy.
The Cliftonhill faithful were treated to a goals show on Saturday as Mendy bagged a brace in amongst fine strikes from Bright Prince, Paul Kennedy and Marcus Lavery.
It earned Clark’s side just their fifth win in 13 Lowland League games this season and he was pleased to see his players reap the rewards he feels recent performances have merited. ”A result like that has been coming,” Clark told the club media. ”Last Wednesday night [in a 2-2 draw with bottom side Broomhill] we could easily have been three or four up at half-time, game finished, but we ended up dropping two points. “But Saturday was a really professional performance from start to finish.
We dominated the game, scored some good goals, didn’t concede any, against a good Stirling Uni side who are well-organised and made us work hard for it. “I’m pleased for the players, every one of them in the group.
