Ajax have confirmed the signing of Manchester City starlet Carlos Borges. The exciting forward was one of City's standout young stars in the EDS last season as he netted 29 times on the way to Premier League 2 glory, including a stunning four-goal haul against Manchester United.
Ajax have moved to sign the 19-year-old for an initial fee of €14m which could reach as high as €19 million (£17.2m.) City have once again moved to protect themselves in the sale of one of their bright talents by inserting a buy-back clause into Borges' contract as well as a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
The sale takes the Blues' earnings from the sales of EDS products to more than £50m this summer alone after the previous departures of James Trafford, Shea Charles and Ade Mebude.
Borges, who will play under the name Forbs in Amsterdam, has signed a five-year deal with the Dutch giants until 2028. The Portuguese was initially set to join Premier League rivals West Ham United until Ajax swooped in to beat them to it.
