A day of horror on the streets of a Greater Manchester borough

There has been 24 hours of horror on the streets of Bury. A bouncer was shot in the doorway of a busy bar, a man was stabbed in a violent attack and a motorbike rider has suffered potentially life-changing injuries in a major crash.

Three separate investigations have been launched into separate incidents across the north Manchester borough on Wednesday and Thursday (October 23 and 24).

The first incident struck after a bouncer was shot at a bar in Bury town centre. Bullet holes were left in the window of Stanley's bar, on Silver Street, after the doorman was blasted in the hand on Wednesday evening. The victim, a man aged 39, was rushed to hospital after sustaining a serious gunshot wound to his wrist. An attempted murder investigation was launched, with a 19-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident.
