A main road in Hyde has been closed off in both directions this afternoon amid a 'serious police incident'. Emergency services are at the scene of the incident on the A57 Manchester Road near to Hyde town centre this afternoon.

Details about the incident have not yet been confirmed. The road is blocked currently in both directions, with traffic being diverted.

Bus routes are also facing delays and are being suspended due to the ongoing closure. Bus operator Stagecoach posted: "We regret to inform our intending passengers that due to an ongoing serious police incident on Manchester Rd our 201 services will be terminating at Crown Point in Denton.
