We’re less than a month away from the return of The Great Manchester Run, which will see thousands of runners taking on the 10k and half marathon events. Manchester’s original running event takes place on Sunday, May 26, with start times staggered throughout the morning.
With less than 30 days to go, organisers have issued a major update regarding the half marathon. The AJ Bell Great Manchester Run has now sold out of half marathon spots, while there remains a small number of 10k distance spaces left.
Even though half marathon spots have sold out, those interested in taking on the 13.1 mile challenge can still sign up for a charity place. Meanwhile, entries for the 10k are still available, but limited and organisers anticipate that they will sell out within the next couple of weeks.

Established in 2003, the run is known for being Europe’s biggest 10km race, and will be broadcast on television throughout the day. Thousands will also turn out to offer their support to those taking part and soak up the atmosphere.
Last year, the popular running event celebrated its 20th anniversary with live entertainment zones at every turn, and Olympic legend Sir Mo Farah also took part. The four-time gold medallist took part for a final time after confirming he would retire from elite competition after the AJ Bell Great North event in September 2023.
In 2024, as well as limited spaces left for the 10k, the Junior and Mini event, the day before (25 May), is also selling fast and expected to sell out. The kids will take centre stage in the kids’ events which are for those aged between 3-16 as the youngest take on a 1.6km dash, while junior runners (9-15) take on
