Youri Tielemans 'preference' revealed as Brendan Rodgers drops Leicester City transfer hint

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans would prefer a summer move to Spain in the summer transfer window, according to reports in Belgium.

The City midfielder will have just one year remaining on his current deal at the club when the summer window opens. Talks have been ongoing between club and player over a new deal for some time, but agreement is yet to be reached.

It means a transfer is a possibility for the midfielder, with City not wanting to lose the player for nothing at the end of next season. A number of clubs have been credited with an interest in the Belgian.

Premier League sides Manchester United and Arsenal are two that have most recently been linked. However, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Tielemans has told those close to him that his ‘preference’ is for a move to Spain in the summer.

While Brendan Rodgers did not call out Caglar Soyuncu by name, the manager was not subtle in his criticism of the incident involving the Turkish defender that led to Tottenham Hotspur’s second goal.

Soyuncu and Cristian Romero were both rushing in to compete for the loose ball, but it was not a 50-50. The ball was rolling towards Soyuncu, so the odds were in his favour.

But he lost out. Romero’s crunching tackle pushed the ball forward, Dejan Kulusevski found Son Heung-min, and he found the bottom corner. Soyuncu was still on the floor.
