'You can't trust them' - Gary Neville questions players in Manchester United dressing room

Gary Neville has criticised Manchester United's players for producing inconsistent results and being 'untrustworthy' after a disappointing defeat against West Ham.

United earned a hard-fought point against Liverpool last weekend but they were unable to build on that against West Ham, who claimed a 2-0 win on Saturday after goals from Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus.

The defeat moved United to eighth position in the Premier League table and qualification for Champions League football seems unlikely.

United have struggled with inconsistency this season and Erik ten Hag has faced heavy scrutiny, but Neville thinks the players should be held accountable because they continue to let down supporters. He also suggested nothing will improve until there is a change of leadership at board room level.

"It doesn't surprise me. I didn't get carried away when they played against Liverpool because I thought Liverpool were below par. United were relatively poor in possession," Neville told his Sky Sports podcast.

"But they showed resilience and you always have to respect a draw at Anfield. Now, what we see from this team, and I don't just mean under his manager, is pretty much the same. You can't trust them.

"They will let you down when they give you a glimmer of hope that they might be on track, they go lose a game they shouldn't. They have Aston Villa on Boxing Day but could lose against Nottingham Forest four days later.

"That's how daft it is and that's just what we watch. Inconsistency is a really bad trait in all walks of life, you want to be reliable and consistent. It's really important.
