Xenoblade Chronicles 3: New expansion pass announced

An expansion pass has been announced for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, as per IGN.

Nintendo and Monolith Soft have announced that there will be a variety of new quests, characters and storylines coming to the game throughout the remainder of 2022 and into 2023.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is set to release on July 29 and the expansion pass will launch alongside it.

The expansion will cost £26.99 and is broken down into four different pieces that will drop at different times.

The first piece will launch on July 29 and give you “helpful items”, that are currently unnamed, and colour variants for outfits.

The second drop is set to add a new Hero character and quests, a new challenge battle, and further new outfits.

That will arrive before the end of 2022 but there is no release date for it.

The third drop will again see a new Hero and quests, challenge battle and new outfits; this one will come out before the end of April in 2023.

The last drop will come before the end of 2023, and will have a new storyline. There are no more details than that but it is likely to extend the lifespan of the game significantly.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a direct sequel to the second game in the series, which released in December of 2017, meaning there has been a wait of five years for a sequel.

It did well both commercially and critically and received a Metacritic score of 83 for Nintendo Switch, along with a user score of 8.6 from 2,248 ratings.

Fans of the series will be hoping for similar quality from Xenoblade Chronicles 3, which is set to further the storyline of the same characters, and further expand the universe.
