Wrexham 6-0 Barnet: Dragons rampant as they hit sorry Bees for six
Wrexham AFC put in another scintillating display of attacking football as they saw off the challenge of mid table Barnet with ease. The Dragons came into the game knowing that a win would see them cut the gap to National League leaders Stockport County to eight points.
The home side were absolutely rampant throughout and put a poor Barnet side to the sword with some incisive attacking play. Another bumper Racecourse crowd of 8,768 saw the Reds continue their march towards what they will hope will be a memorable end to this campaign.
The game started with Wrexham on the front foot and looking to press their opponents back. The reds won a succession of corners in the opening 15 minutes but failed to make them count.
That changed in the 15th minute as a speculative ball forward was cut out by visiting defender Reiss Greenidge but the Bees centre half was robbed by Ollie Palmer who snatched the ball away before tucking home a calm finish to put the Dragons in front. Jordan Davies then had a couple of efforts, one from the edge of the box which was saved and then the local lad put a free kick just over.
