"Wouldn't rule it out..." - Journalist hints Tuchel signing could now leave Chelsea

Romelu Lukaku could leave Chelsea this summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The £76.5m-rated striker only re-joined the Blues last year, but he’s scored just eight Premier League goals in what has been an extremely challenging season for the Belgium international.

When Lukaku returned to Stamford Bridge last summer, many thought that he was the missing piece of the Thomas Tuchel puzzle and he was expected to fire Chelsea to a first top-flight crown since 2017.

Lukaku made a fine start by scoring three goals in his first two appearances, but he hasn’t been able to hit the heights since then.

And his poor form in recent months has led to him falling behind Kai Havertz in the pecking order, having found the net just five times in the league in the last seven months.

Goal recently reported that he could return to San Siro, although this time with AC Milan, while GiveMeSport were told last month that Lukaku is giving ‘serious thought’ over a move to PSG.

The Belgian also gave an interview to the Italian media back in December when he hinted about a return to Inter Milan.

When asked whether Lukaku could leave Chelsea this summer, he told GIVEMESPORT: “You wouldn’t rule it out. We all know that Lukaku hasn’t hit the heights this season, he’s struggled for regular game-time for Thomas Tuchel.

“He has scored a couple of goals of late, which will be good for his confidence, but we all know he didn’t do himself any favours with his interview in Italy around December time when he said he would be interested in a return to Inter Milan.”
