Former Man City manager hints at Raheem Sterling's future amid Chelsea transfer links

Former Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce has hinted at the future of Raheem Sterling amid links to Chelsea and Real Madrid.

MEN Sport reported on Wednesday that 'personal targets' could decide whether Sterling stays or leaves the Etihad Stadium this summer. Thomas Tuchel is believed to be an admirer of the England international while Real are looking for an alternative to Kylian Mbappe after being rebuffed by the PSG forward.

Pearce, who was first-team manager at City for two years after managing the club's reserves between 2002 and 2005, believes that there will be one key factor in Sterling's mind going into the transfer window. Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: "It's unbelievable he's only 27 years old with the experience and how well he's done, both for club and country.

"He'll go wherever I think he thinks his next personal challenge is. He might fancy abroad.

"There will be a lot of takers for him. I think he's been sensational - he's added goals over the last five years."
