Wolves urged to bring 'unplayable' £50m star to Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers transfer target Allan Saint-Maximin is ‘too good’ for Bruno Lage’s side but the hierarchy should still push to tempt the Newcastle United winger to Molineux, according to journalist Josh Holland.

Lage was appointed as Wolves’ head coach last summer and, ahead of the climax to an impressive maiden season at the helm, it appears as though the Portuguese is already looking at potential reinforcements prior to the reopening of the transfer window.

According to 90min, Wolves have expressed an interest in Newcastle’s Saint-Maximin and could look to strike a deal in the summer.

The report suggests Lage is looking to replace Adama Traore – who is currently on loan with Barcelona, but the agreement includes the option of being made permanent for £29million – and Saint-Maximin fits the bill.

Newcastle are reportedly willing to cash-in on Saint-Maximin and are open to offloading him if a bid of £50million is lodged, with Aston Villa also mulling over whether to try their luck.

Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope has revealed Newcastle could sanction the Frenchman’s departure due to wanting to generate funds to stay ahead of spending regulations.

Everton are another club keeping tabs on Saint-Maximin, but it is thought that the Toffees will only strengthen their interest if they succeed in their bid to stave off relegation to the Championship.
