Wolves star sends warning to Manchester United after unbeaten pre-season

Wolves defender Hugo Bueno believes his side have a 'really good chance' of getting a result against Manchester United next week after an unbeaten pre-season campaign.

Julen Lopetegui's side head to Old Trafford next Monday night for the final game of the 2023/2024 Premier League opening weekend. They finished their summer preparations with a 3-1 win over French side Stade Rennais on Saturday, the third victory in a summer that also included two draws and no defeats.

It's been a frustrating summer off the pitch for Wolves, with established first-team players such as Nathan Collins, Ruben Neves, Raul Jimenez and Conor Coady all leaving. A restricted budget has left Lopetegui unable to strengthen and reportedly considering his future.

But those concerns are yet to filter into the 90 minutes, with the Midlands side enjoying a solid pre-season. And Bueno is hopeful that momentum can carry through to Monday when they face United.

“Work – that’s the only thing we’re thinking of," he told Wolves' in-house media team. "We know it’s going to be tough, in a really tough stadium, but I think we have a really good chance to go there and put in a good performance.

“I think all the squad is really motivated for the new season. We just have to keep going like this and hopefully we can achieve really good things.”
