'Baller' - Manchester United fans think they might have found perfect Mason Mount replacement

Some Manchester United supporters have demanded that young midfielder Dan Gore is included in the matchday squad against Nottingham Forest on Saturday after a polished showing against Stockport County in the EFL Trophy.

United's Under-21s made a winning start to their EFL Trophy campaign on Tuesday night, defeating the League Two side 5-3 on penalties at Edgeley Park. The game had finished 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes after County netted a last-gasp penalty deep into added time to cancel out Joe Hugill's opener.

United's youngsters fully deserved the extra point that a penalty shootout triumph brings, producing an excellent performance against one of League Two's promotion favourites. County missed out on promotion last season, losing the League Two play-off final on penalties.

Though United's overall performance provided plenty of encouragement, it was the showing of Gore in central-midfield that caught almost everyone's attention. The youngster, who turns 19 next month, bossed proceedings in the engine room, picking up the ball from deep positions and dictating play.
