Wolves star backed to have Adama Traore impact as Bruno Lage reveals winger wish
Daniel Podence struck in the second half to hand Wolverhampton Wanderers a vitally important 2-1 win over Leicester City.
Bruno Lage’s side maintained their charge for Europe by securing a fifth win in six Premier League matches to keep pace with their rivals.
Ruben Neves opened the scoring for Wolves before Ademola Lookman levelled matters shortly before half-time.
Podence found the all-important winning goal though as Wolves marked the return of talismanic wideman Pedro Neto with a win.
For the second week in a row, Wolves flew out of the traps and raced into an early lead.
Neves started the move with a sweeping ball out to Podence on the left flank and finished it with a superb 20-yard finish after Leander Dendoncker and Raul Jimenez combined to tee him up.
It quickly developed into an end-to-end contest and Max Kilman could have scored Wolves’ second goal after meeting Joao Moutinho’s corner midway through the first half. Kilman headed straight at Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.
Rayan Ait-Nouri beat Schmeichel and the post with a fizzing effort following stunning work by Podence to bamboozle Tielemans inside Leicester’s penalty area.
However, Tielemans was more productive at the other end for the Foxes and threaded a delightful pass between Ait-Nouri and Romain Saiss for Albrighton in the 41st minute, and the winger fired across goal for Lookman to score.
An eventful first half ended all square and Lage didn’t wait long to switch things up after half-time. The Wolves head coach introduced Hwang Hee-chan for Joao Moutinho as Wolves changed to a 3-4-3 formation.
Just when Leicester appeared to be in the ascendancy, Wolves broke forward and regained the lead.
Max Kilman stepped out of the defence confidently
