Bruno Lage will surely be furious at Wolves star as footage emerges - opinion

Wolves manager Bruno Lage will surely be feeling rather frustrated with Pedro Neto after seeing the role he played in one of the goals conceded at the weekend.

In the last round of Premier League fixtures, Lage’s men hosted Crystal Palace as they looked to get back to winning ways.

Indeed, having lost to Arsenal and West Ham United in their previous two matches, Wolves were in need of a win against the Eagles but ended the day without adding any points to their seasonal tally.

Goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Wilfried Zaha were enough to see Patrick Vieira’s team return to south London with the win, but one moment in the build-up to the second goal will likely leave the Wolves boss exasperated.

As seen in footage shared to YouTube by Sky Sports Football (1:10), Neto has the ball near his own corner flag and tries to find teammate Daniel Podence with his clearance instead of opting for a safer option. The ball is won back by Palace and soon Jeffrey Schlupp drives into the box to win a penalty.

Zaha dispatches from the spot and the game is lost from that moment.

TIF Thoughts on Pedro Neto and Wolves…

Having missed 10 months of football due to a serious knee injury, it was great to see Neto make a return at last in the recent 2-1 victory over Leicester City.

Against Palace, he then made his first start for 330 days but was clearly still a little rusty, as evidenced by his error in the build-up to the penalty.

No doubt, it would have been a bittersweet moment for many Wolves supporters, who would likely have been delighted to see the winger back in the team after so long, but frustrated too to see his mistake effectively cost them the game.
