Wolves: Molineux 'connections could facilitate' £15m summer deal

Wolverhampton Wanderers may succeed in their pursuit of Goncalo Guedes thanks to behind the scenes ‘connections’ at Molineux, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The West Midlanders are still challenging for a European qualification spot heading into the final weeks of the campaign, but it appears head coach Bruno Lage has already turned his attentions towards securing reinforcements during the summer transfer window.

According to The Telegraph, Wolves are set to make a move for Valencia star Guedes after Lage has prioritised the signing of a new centre forward.

The report suggests the 29-cap Portugal international is high on a shortlist of targets and a deal could be struck if a bid in the region of £15million is tabled.

Guedes is set to enter the final 12 months of his Valencia contract, potentially boosting Wolves’ chances of getting their man.

Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes is the 25-year-old’s representative and that could also play into the Molineux outfit’s hands.

That is because Gestifute – Mendes’ agency – also represent Wolves stars Jose Sa, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Nelson Semedo, Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Pedro Neto, Daniel Podence and Francisco Trincao.

O’Rourke believes relationships which have been built behind the scenes could prove crucial in Wolves attempting to lure Guedes to the Premier League.

The journalist feels Lage, who was appointed as the West Midlands outfit’s boss last summer, will have done his homework on the attacker.
