Wolves manager Gary O'Neil gives verdict on Manchester United defeat and rejected penalty claim

Gary O'Neil believes his Wolves side deserved to get something from the game after Manchester United snatched three points at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Raphael Varane settled the game with a header on 76 minutes as United got their Premier League charge up and running with victory. However, given that Wolves had been the better team for large parts, there would have been a sense of relief for Erik ten Hag and his players.

As for O'Neil, the feeling was certainly one of frustration. Brought in to replace Julen Lopetegui, the ex-Bournemouth manager got his new troops organised and they created some good chances - as well as having a strong penalty appeal turned down - before slipping to defeat.

"I thought the lads were incredible, the lads that started, the lads that came off the bench. We tried to overload in the middle if we could, creating a box with four-vs-three, a game plan similar to what I've always done.
