Wolves transfer news: Matheus Nunes rumours fly again but two Prem rivals also hunt deal

Wolves are once again being linked with a move for midfielder Matheus Nunes, although they are not alone as two major Premier League forces are also considering a move for the Sporting star.

The Portugal international has been tipped to arrive at Molineux over the past month. That’s despite the impression he could join a Champions League side – and that’s where Liverpool and Chelsea come in.

Having seen another target Palhinha make a somewhat surprising move to Fulham, Nunes has once again emerged as an option for Bruno Lage.

And Saturday’s edition of Correio da Manhã states: “CM [Correio da Manhã] knows that the player [Nunes] is ready to take the leap and will do everything to leave, although he has not put any pressure on the club to release him.”

The outlet adds that ‘the leonine midfielder is body and soul in Alvalade’. However, there is belief that at any moment a proposal from England could well arrive.

None of the clubs chasing the player’s signature have given up hope on a deal. And Correio states that Wolves have been joined by Chelsea and more recently Liverpool in showing form interest.

Sporting are known to want a figure of around £38million plus a further £3.7m in add-ons for Nunes.

Jorge Mendes is the agent who is involved in the deal and has worked on Wolves transfers in the past.

The report finishes by stating that Manchester United could still move for Ruben Neves, if a move for Frenkie de Jong falls through.

If they do then that would give Wolves significant funds to play with and potentially land Nunes.

Lage’s men get their Premier League campaign underway at Leeds United on August 6.
