Wolves: Lage now facing 'huge few weeks' amid 'fan unrest' at Molineux

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Bruno Lage is facing a ‘huge few weeks’ following a slow start to the season, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 46-year-old’s position in the Molineux dugout has come under scrutiny in recent months, and a busy October schedule could have far-reaching consequences for his tenure.

Lage made an impressive start to life at Wolves after arriving in the summer of 2021 and had his side challenging for a place in the top four of the Premier League standings during his first few months at the helm.

However, a 1-0 defeat away at Arsenal on February 10 derailed the Midlands outfit’s European push, sparking a run of just five victories in their final 16 top-flight fixtures.

Wolves ended up finishing last season in 10th position as a result, and Lage has been unable to change their fortunes in the opening stages of the current campaign.

After seven league fixtures, Wolves has picked up only six points, leaving them hovering one place above the relegation zone and with a goal difference of -4.

Express & Star reporter Liam Keen has claimed that Lage’s position is not currently under threat, but that could change soon enough if performances and results do not improve.

Lage was heavily backed in the summer transfer window, with Wolves splashing out around £120 million on new signings, and O’Rourke believes it is a ‘worrying time’ for the Portuguese chief.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “Yeah, it’s maybe a bit of a worrying time for Wolves.

“Wolves fans are starting to show a bit of unrest as well with the whole Bruno Lage situation. So, it’s a huge few weeks coming up for Bruno Lage.”
