Wolves chief opens up on contract talks amid Manchester United and Arsenal rumours

Wolves have opened contract negotiations with Ruben Neves in a bid to ward off interest in the midfielder from the Premier League’s big boys The Portugal international has been extensively linked with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal - with clubs across Europe keeping tabs on him.

Neves is currently out injured and could miss a large part of the rest of the season having picked up a knee problem in the loss to Leeds United. But that won’t distract suitors who have become well-used to seeing him perform with such accomplishment in the top flight for several years now.

Neves is under contract until 2024 and Wolves would like to extend that with Technical Director Scott Sellars tellng The Sun : “We’re obviously talking to him and we all know how much he loves playing for the club. We know how much he has settled here, but he is also an ambitious young man.

“As with all players, you try and have an open dialogue with them and their representatives to come to the best scenario for the club and the player Rightly so, elite clubs all over Europe will have Ruben on their radar, but we have an excellent relationship with him and will do things properly, and collaboratively, when the time is right.

“Ruben is having a fantastic season and everybody should take a pat on the back in terms of how well he is playing.” Manchester United have been credited with an interest ever since Wolves returned to the Premier League, while Arsenal are the latest club linked with the 25-year-old.
