Three Ajax players that could follow Erik ten Hag to Manchester United

The Manchester Evening News understands that Erik ten Hag is set to be appointed as the next permanent manager of Manchester United. Once this has been finalised alongside the appointments of his backroom staff it is likely that the club will move on to transfers, of which United need several.

Though it is unlikely that Ten Hag will be able to raid his former club Ajax for solutions to every problem, but he may be able to bring a few key stars to Old Trafford, so let's have a look at who could follow the Dutchman to Old Trafford.

Jurrien Timber

Though right-back and centre-back are not priority positions for United, Timber is one of the most talented youngster in world football right now and a favourite of Ten Hag. Dutch journalist Mike Verweij believes that the Ajax manager is a big admirer of the defender and will look to bring him with him to Old Trafford.

Given that Ten Hag plays one of his full-backs to act more as a centre-back in possession, Timber could be the answer to the club's right-back problem and have an effective deputy in Diogo Dalot. With a contract that expires in 2024, Ajax will not be desperate to sell given his clear talent and high ceiling but United may be able to strike a reasonable deal.
