Wolves: £50m star 'hoping for big offer from major club' this summer

Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves is ‘hoping deep down’ that he will secure a big-money move away from Molineux at the end of the season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The summer window is on the horizon and there are serious doubts over whether Neves will still be on Wolves’ books when next term gets underway due to widespread interest.

Wolves have confirmed that Neves will not return to action until the closing stages of the campaign after suffering a medial collateral ligament injury to his knee during the defeat to Leeds United before the international break.

Despite being on the sidelines, The Sun have revealed that Wolves have entered discussions over extending Neves’ contract.

However, the report suggests the West Midlands outfit may look to cash-in on the £50million-rated 25-year-old if he opts against committing his long-term future to the club.

Neves’ current agreement – which is worth £50,000-per-week – is set to expire in the summer of 2024, emphasising why Wolves want to see him put pen-to-paper.

The 26-cap Portugal international has been at Molineux since making the club-record move from Porto close to five years ago and gone on to make 207 appearances.

Jones believes Neves is holding back from signing a contract extension because he wants to seal a move away from Wolves.

The journalist feels the central midfielder is keen to secure a big-money switch to a high-flying side in the summer.
