Man Utd: £150m star 'gettable' for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford

Manchester United target Declan Rice is ‘gettable’ as speculation over his immediate future at West Ham refuses to go away, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Red Devils have reportedly been targeting the 23-year-old for several months as they aim to add some steel to the base of their often-exposed midfield.

According to The Telegraph, United are set to make ‘substantial funds’ available to Erik ten Hag this summer even if the club miss out on Champions League qualification.

Current Ajax manager Ten Hag is expected to fill the Old Trafford hot seat once the current campaign concludes and is expected to be handed a detailed shortlist of potential targets.

United are said to be prioritising a new striker as well as two high-energy engine room operators suited to the Dutchman’s very specific style of play.

And Rice has been identified alongside Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips, Ruben Neves of Wolves and Aston Villa’s John McGinn as midfield options who could improve the current crop in the red half of Manchester.

However, prising the England international away from the London Stadium would be an expensive task, with West Ham manager David Moyes saying it would take an offer ‘north’ of £150 million.

“The first thing to say is that he is not for sale,” said the Scottish tactician in a recent interview when asked about Rice’s future.

“But if you are interested, it will be north of that, because £100m was cheap last summer and £150m just now would be minimum – but he is not for sale.”

Despite Moyes warning Rice’s admirers against making an attempt to sign his star performer, Jones believes United ‘could get him’ this summer.
