Wishaw climb out of league bottom three with back-to-back wins
Wishaw boss David Dunn is delighted to see his side record back-to-back wins to climb out of the West of Scotland Second Division relegation zone.
But he warned his players not to rest on their laurels after working so hard to get out of danger in the bottom three.
The Beltane Park side followed up last week’s 2-0 win over Glasgow University with a hard-fought 1-0 win away to Kilsyth Rangers on Saturday, courtesy of Cammy Lawson’s second half header.
It has put them two points clear of Ardeer Thistle and level on points with 12th place Maryhill, with games on hand on the teams around them.
But Dunn said they must keep the momentum going as they prepare to meet Craigmark for the first time this season when they host the fifth-placed side on Saturday.
He said: “It was another really good performance on the back of the Glasgow Uni result. It’s another clean sheet in difficult conditions.
“The surface at Kilsyth was excellent but it was just really windy. They played with the wind in the first half so we were happy to take 0-0 at half-time.
“The boys were magnificent and defended really well.
“Barring the last 30 minutes against Ardeer a few weeks ago, we’ve actually defended really well recently and we’ve got a very good goals against ratio.
“That is something that is a real positive and you can see it means a lot now to the boys to get their clean sheets. And I’m not just talking about the defenders. It goes into the midfielders and the forwards.
“It was a real team performance. A point looked like it was going to be all we’d get but we get a free kick and Mark Canning puts the ball on big Cammy’s head for the goal.
