Wishaw can avenge Muirkirk defeat quickly amid run of home games

Wishaw boss David Dunn hopes having three home games on the bounce can be the key to their survival in the West of Scotland Second Division.

The Beltane Park side are two points clear of the relegation zone with a game in hand over their rivals going into their final five games of the campaign, following a 3-0 defeat at Muirkirk on Saturday.

And they have the perfect opportunity to put that loss right tonight when they tackle Muirkirk again at home.

That clash is followed by the visit of Maybole on Saturday and then Greenock on May 20.

Dunn said: “Our next three games are at home and we finish with two away games, so I think we need to pick up two or three wins from that and it would be enough for us.

“Wednesday is our last game in hand so it is a chance to stretch away a bit from Ardeer [in the closest relegation spot] and if we win on Wednesday that can go a long way to getting us over the line.

“On Saturday we weren’t at the races and, to be fair, the Muirkirk boy has hit a great strike from his own half just before half-time for them to go in 1-0 up.

“We made some changes at half-time and we improved. It looked like we might get something out of the game but another individual error saw us lose a silly goal from a cross.

“Then we chase the game and lose the third.

“But what a chance to go and rectify that by going and getting three points on Wednesday.”

Dunn was disappointed his side couldn’t back up last week’s impressive 3-1 win away to Forth but says his players are giving their all.

He added: “I felt for the boys because I’ve asked the boys to step up and they have been magnificent for me.

“We’ve got a mixture of experience and youth and we are maybe relying on the older ones too much at times so we need others
