Will FIFA 23 have VAR?

FIFA 23 is creeping ever closer – but with new information circulating daily, do we know if the new title will have VAR?

VAR is a massively controversial subject in world football. Since fully being introduced into most major leagues such as the Premier League and the Bundesliga in 2018, many have questioned the hassle the new technology actually creates instead of how it positively impacts the game.

Fans complain that the flow of the game is now interrupted and more so, the excitement of a goal is hindered as you now have to wait to see if the goal will pass the VAR check – which does take some of the magic away from the beautiful game.

However, on the contrary – VAR does make the game a lot fairer for both sides. Gone are the days of a missed red card or an unjust disallowed goal. Diego Maradona would’ve been knackered if he tried the ‘Hand of God’ in the 21st century and England would’ve beat the German’s in the 2014 World Cup thanks to a Frank Lampard lob – but unfortunately, the tech was not available to us then.

So this begs the question, with VAR being a prominent bit of tech in the game of football now, will it be making an appearance in FIFA 23 for the first time ever? Find out below.

Unfortunately, no – FIFA 23 will not have VAR.

This comes after a deep dive into gameplay was released by EA last week and nothing was mentioned about the introduction of VAR to the game when they we’re listing the new rules that have been added to the new instalment of FIFA.

EA seem to not be too keen on implementing VAR into FIFA titles. The technology has been in the game of football for many years now and probably
