Who is Chido Obi-Martin? The Arsenal wonderkid linked with Manchester United transfer

Talented young forward Chido Obi-Martin has been linked with a move to Manchester United after his terms with Arsenal expired.

The 16-year-old made headlines in April after netting seven goals in a stunning 9-0 victory for the Gunners' under-18s team. Obi-Martin scored 32 goals in total at U18s level for Arsenal, including five against West Ham United, four against Crystal Palace and another four against Fulham.

In achieving this, Obi-Martin has surpassed Folarin Balogun's record of most goals scored for Arsenal U18s in a season, previously set at 25 during the 2018/19 campaign. And the Athletic reports that United are exploring a deal with the player said to have visited United’s Carrington training facilities earlier this week. Manchester City are also said to be interested.

The teenager, who also managed to score an impressive ten goals in a 14-3 victory over Liverpool's under-16s back in November, has represented Arsenal in UEFA Youth League matches against Sevilla and Lens, and has made two substitute appearances at Premier League 2 level.

Born in 2007 in Glostrup, on the outskirts of Copenhagen, the Danish youngster moved to the UK as a teenager. He has represented both England and Denmark's national teams at youth level and is also eligible to play for Nigeria, reports football.london.

However, it currently seems more likely that he will represent Denmark, having recently scored ten times in 14 games for their Under-17s, including four in a 6-2 win against Norway.
