Scottish referees in Euro 2024 snub as UEFA reveal full list officials including Argentina whistler

Scottish officials have been snubbed for Euro 2024 after UEFA revealed who will on duty for this summer’s extravaganza in Germany - including a whistler from Argentina!

The UEFA Referees’ Committee announced the full list of officials with 18 referees and VAR officials. Two representatives will be involved for England - Michael Oliver and Anthony Taylor - for the 51 matches taking place.

Steve Clarke’s Scotland will be there but NO men in black from Scotland. However, South American referee Facundo Tello will be involved with two assistants. This, as was the case at Euro 2020, as part of a referee exchange programme between UEFA and the South American Football Confederation CONMEBOL. Argentinian Fernando Rapallini was selected on that occasion. Willie Collum was the last Scottish referee to take charge at a major tournament. Collum was at Euro 2016 in France with Bobby Madden and John Beaton were assistants at the tournament and Francis Conner also there.

This is now the FOURTH tournament in a row where Scottish officials won’t be involved. It's a far fall for Scottish officials when Hugh Dallas was awarded a role in the World Cup Final as a fourth official in 2002.

Scotland's head of referees Crawford Allan is to leave his post at the end of the season as the Scottish FA conducts a review of the role in light of ongoing VAR controversies.

Roberto Rosetti, UEFA managing director of refereeing, said: “UEFA EURO 2024 is the pinnacle of European national team football with the best teams competing and that’s why we have selected the best referees to officiate these matches. All chosen referees have
