ISIS issue chilling Champions League bomb threat as Real Madrid vs Man City put on high alert

Spanish police have been forced to ramp up security measures following a bomb threat from ISIS in this week's Champions League quarter final ties.

Ahead of Real Madrid's high-stakes clash with Manchester City on Tuesday evening, authorities have confirmed they are on 'high alert' due to the potential threat. The extremist group made its intentions known on Monday, singling out all four venues set to host this week's quarter-final fixtures, including Arsenal's Emirates Stadium and Real Madrid's iconic Santiago Bernabeu.

A disturbing message was disseminated by the Al Azaim Foundation, a platform notorious for broadcasting ISIS propaganda, featuring a poster emblazoned with the words 'Kill them all', coupled with the names of the stadiums involved. This has led to a significant increase in security presence in Madrid, where two of the matches will take place. Spanish officials have assured that "in terms of preventing the terrorist threat, the State Security Forces and Bodies have activated all their early warning and protection systems, as well as all their response mechanisms ready and willing."

Madrid is set to witness an extensive security operation involving over 2,000 agents from the National Police and Civil Guard, particularly vigilant over the next day, as Atletico Madrid prepares to host Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Arsenal are scheduled to play Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night, and Paris Saint-Germain will welcome Borussia Dortmund in Paris come Wednesday, reports the Mirror.
