Where are they now? Ian's Evatt's first Bolton Wanderers team two years on from Bradford City loss

It has been more than two years since Ian Evatt's first game in charge of Bolton Wanderers.

Evatt became Wanderers boss in the summer of 2020 after joining from Barrow and his first competitive game in his first season in charge came on September 5. It was in the first round of the Carabao Cup at the University of Bolton Stadium against Bradford City.

Then captain Antoni Sarcevic cancelled out the opener from Lee Novak. But Harry Pritchard scored for the Bantams to give the Yorkshire side victory and ensure Evatt suffered defeat in his first game in charge of Bolton.

Evatt admits he would struggle to name the team which started that game now, but believes the club has moved forward in that time under chairman Sharon Brittan and the ownership of Football Ventures. It is an upwards curve he wants to see continue in the right direction.

Evatt said: “It shows how much we have evolved. I am not sure I could name the team now if I tried. It probably shows what sort of transient business football can be, managers come and go, players come and go, but the most important thing is that the club progresses.

“Obviously you remember those times because it is part of what we are and who we are but I am pleased two years later that we are moving in a good direction. It has been an incredible two years for many reasons. We have come through a lot together, highs and lows, and that is what the game can be.

“I am really blessed that Sharon and the board believe in me and we have ridden out storms together. We have done that a few times since I have been here and had continuous progressing, which is what every club wants. We are
