The Sam Allardyce method Ian Evatt will employ for Bolton Wanderers' busy October schedule

Ian Evatt has sliced Bolton Wanderers' season up into chunks as Sam Allardyce used to do and is preparing and assessing a busy next block of fixtures for the Whites.

Wanderers went into the international break in the top six and remain in the play-offs despite not being in action over the weekend. The clash against Portsmouth at Fratton Park was postponed due to call-ups within the squad.

Bolton have played nine games so far in their League One campaign and sit five points from the division's summit. They have had several challenging fixtures so far.

Those have included trips to the likes of Ipswich Town and Plymouth Argyle, as well as hosting the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Peterborough United, Charlton Athletic and Wycombe Wanderers. Now there has been a reset with Wanderers hopeful their players away on international duty return unscathed.

Wanderers return to action on Saturday when they host Lincoln City and that kicks off a fixture schedule of eight games across the space of the month. Whites boss Evatt has already looked at the next 10 games in Bolton's season and the challenges they will face.

Slicing the season up into chunks is something former Bolton boss Allardyce used to do during his time at the club and it is something Evatt and his staff have adopted this season. He has explained identifying what is needed to be in the top six and achieve promotion are behind this.
