When Tim Sherwood invited Spurs fan to manage game v Aston Villa in 2014

Tim Sherwood’s time as manager of Tottenham Hotspur was brief.

The Englishman was appointed manager of the club in December 13, 2013 and was relieved his duties at the end of the 2013/14 season.

During his five months in charge, Sherwood was subject to a fair bit of heckling from his own fans.

And Sherwood had enough in the final day of the season.

With Spurs 3-0 up against Aston Villa, a Spurs fan called Danny Grimsdale made some comments to Sherwood.

The former midfielder, who played three times for his country, then decided to invite Danny down to the dugout so he could manage the team instead.

Sherwood gave Danny his gilet and let him seat in his chair alongside assistant manager, Les Ferdinand.

Danny sat there for a number of minutes before shaking hands with Sherwood and making his way back to his seat in the stands.

It made for a comical moment and you can watch it below…

“That guy is an expert,” Sherwood said after the game, per ESPN. “Seriously, every week he tells me what to do — ‘This one is rubbish, that one is an embarrassment, why don’t you play more attacking? Why don’t you shore it up?’ So I gave him the opportunity to do the job.’

“It’s all lighthearted. We’ve got the police looking for him now because he’s nicked the club gilet.”

Danny spoke out about the incident on BBC’s 606 show after the game.

He said, per the Independent: “During the game I called some substitutions that I thought he should make and it just so happened he went on to make them.

“We were 3-0 up against Aston Villa and not really showing much so it was a good opportunity to get some young players on which he obviously agreed with.

“Suddenly he said: ‘You know what? You might as well sit in the hotseat’. So I thought, why not?
