Referees in the Premier League have been told to allow players to show solidarity to Ukraine following Matty Cash's booking at Brighton after his 'stay strong' message to Polish teammate Tomasz Kedziora.

Kedziora plays his club football for Dynamo Kyiv and, after scoring the opener at The Amex, Cash took off his shirt to show his support to the 27-year-old who's currently caught up amongst atrocities in the Ukrainian capital.

Cash, 24, was booked by referee John Brooks for removing his shirt which, under Premier League rules, is deemed to be unsporting conduct.

"This yellow card is on us," Gerrard said over the weekend. "There's certainly no finger-pointing. There was a message from the Premier League that came down but, because of our late arrival, I'm not sure we got it too clearly.

Thousands of annoyed Aston Villa supporters have called on the club to introduce a park-and-ride service on match days.
