When is the Vikings Valhalla release date on Netflix and what to expect from the series

Fans of historical drama will be excited to find out that the hit show Vikings is getting a sequel series due to arrive on streaming platforms later this month.

The original show proved hugely successful, with an IMDB rating of 8.5/10 and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 93%.

Vikings: Valhalla is set over a hundred years after the events of the original show, which first aired back in 2013 and went on for six series, concluding in 2020.

Netflix says that the new series “is a new adventure that blends historical authenticity and drama with gritty, immersive action.”

The show will star Bradley Freegard, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Caroline Henderson, Laura Berlin, and David Oakes.

Vikings: Valhalla was created by Jeb Stuart (who also serves as showrunner and EP) and is also executive produced by Morgan O’Sullivan, Michael Hirst, Sheila Hockin, Steve Stark, James Flynn, John Weber, Sherry Marsh, Alan Gasmer and Paul Buccier.

The show is coming to Netflix on February 25, 2022, at 8am GMT.

While we don’t have many plot specifics, the Netflix official synopsis for the show tells us, “Set over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century, VIKINGS: VALHALLA chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived — the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson), and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).”
