The Red Arrows will be flying over Greater Manchester this weekend as part of the much-anticipated Blackpool Airshow.

Taking place on Saturday, 10 August and Sunday, 11 August, thousands are expected to descend on the seaside resort to watch a series of spectacular aerial displays.

Across the weekend, dozens of military aircraft will take to the skies above Blackpool with highlights including the RAF Typhoon, Spitfire XIX & Mustang P51D, and of course, the famous Red Arrows.

The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team will be taking part in two displays at the Lancashire event over the weekend. On both days, the team will perform in the Blackpool Airshow, flying over Greater Manchester, which is when residents may be able to catch them as they fly over the area around Horwich in Bolton.

As well as the aerial displays there will be activities on the ground in the Airshow Village which will be open from 10am to 6pm.

On Saturday, 10 August, the Red Arrows Air Show display will start at 1:49pm from Blackpool before heading over Southport and taking in Burscough and then east of Horwich in Bolton. It will then head west of Langho and south of Esprick before the Blackpool display at 2pm.

On Sunday, the route will be the same, but slightly later. Setting off around 4:49pm, the Red Arrows will be seen over Horwich at 4:54pm before the 5pm show.

After the show, the Red Arrows will fly back to Blackpool Airport where they will land before taking off for Edinburgh at
