What time the Rochdale by-election 2024 results are due

Voters in Rochdale will choose their new MP in a by-election on Thursday (February 29). Polling stations will be open from 7am.

The counting process will begin shortly after 10pm when polls close with the results expected in the early hours of Friday morning (March 1). The count will take place at Rochdale Leisure Centre with candidates, their agents and members of the media attending.

Rochdale council has said it would normally expect the result to be declared at around 3am, but there may be delays if recounts are requested. The turnout of the election will be announced following the verification of the votes, before the final results are declared.

There are 11 candidates standing to replace the late Sir Tony Lloyd who died last month from an incurable form of leukaemia. The full list of candidates standing in the Rochdale by-election on February 29, as they will appear on the ballot papers, is as follows:
