What results do Celtic need to qualify? Every Champions and Europa League permutation ahead of Lazio clash

Celtic have it all to do against Lazio in Rome as Brendan Rodgers men look to pull off the Italian job to keep their European dreams alive.

But the state of play for the rock-bottom Hoops isn't so clear, with the tight group that also includes Atletico Madrid and Feyenoord proving to be an interesting case for further progression. Rodgers men have just one point to their name having battled against the La Liga giants to a thrilling 2-2 draw in Glasgow, before being pummelled 6-0 in the Spanish capital. That came after back-to-back defeats at the hands of De Kuip and then their Italian rivals when Pedro sickened Parkhead in the last minute to win 2-1.

And in the penultimate match day of what has been a stalled Champions League campaign, it is truly a case of now or never at the Stadio Olimpico, a ground that a then-Neil Lennon side made history against Lazio back in 2019 in the Europa League. But Celtic aren't exactly chasing records, it is points the Scottish Premiership champions need. And it isn't exactly in their hands as Record Sport took a look at how it could all play out.

Firstly, Celtic need to win in Rome to keep any of their European hopes alive, that almost goes without saying. But results elsewhere could hamper the Hoops either way. They need Atletico Madrid to get a result, ideally a win, against Feyenoord in Rotterdam. If the Dutch side win, it is impossible for Celtic to leapfrog them, and thus they would be out.

A draw keeps the hopes alive, providing Celtic win, but it means the Hoops would have to defeat Arne Slot's men by more than two goals in the final group game to better the head-to-head.

A defeat or draw in Rome ends all hope of any further European football.

A Celtic win and an Atletico win truly
