Carter-Vickers and Maeda in Celtic double boost as duo make training return ahead of Feyenoord clash

There was a much needed double boost for Celtic as Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda both made their returns to training.

The American international centre back was badly missed at the weekend as the champions lost their first Premiership match of the season away at Kilmarnock. He say out with a hamstring issue and replacement Nat Phillips turned into his own net to draw Killie level after Matt O'Riley had fired the Hoops in front. Matty Kennedy's late winner capped a miserable afternoon for the league leaders, whose lead now sits at five points having played a game more than Rangers.

Maeda could also be set for a return to action after over a month out with an ankle injury. He suffered a double whammy in the 6-0 Champions League thumping by Atletico Madrid, hurting himself in making a challenge that a VAR review sent him off for in the Spanish capital, after initially being shown a yellow.

But both could be involved as Brendan Rodgers' men conclude their Champions League group stage campaign at home to Feyenoord. Celtic know they can't qualify for the knockout rounds after picking up just one point from five games. The Dutch champions are bound for the Europa League after their third place finish behind Lazio and Atleti was confirmed.

But the Hoops need a confidence boosting win to get the European monkey off their backs. There's also the small matter of coefficient points to try and ensure the Scottish Premiership retains it's automatic group stage qualifying spot for the 2025/26 campaign.
