What Mason Mount said about Old Trafford when walking out for first time as a Man United player

Mason Mount is now officially Manchester United's first signing of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has signed for United for a £55m initial fee from Chelsea, which could rise to £60m due to performance-related add-ons. Mount was in the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge and United have moved to add to their midfield department with the England international's services.

Mount underwent a medical at United's Carrington training ground earlier this week and now the club have officially announced his signing.

The midfielder has been handed the famous No.7 jersey at United. This has been vacant since Cristiano Ronaldo's departure from the club last November.

Upon joining Erik ten Hag's side, Mount said: “It’s never easy leaving the club where you grew up, but Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career. Having competed against them, I know just how strong a squad it is that I’m joining, and I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win major trophies.

"Everyone can see that the club has made big steps forward under Erik ten Hag. Having met with the manager and discussed his plans, I couldn’t be more excited for the seasons ahead, and am ready for the hard work expected here.

"I am hugely ambitious; I know how amazing it feels to win major trophies and what it takes to do it. I will be giving everything to experience that again at Manchester United.”

Mount has already been taking in his new place of work. He has been to United's training ground but has also been across to Old Trafford to view his new home ground.
