What just happened in Cardiff City's pre-season game with Mamelodi Sundowns

Cardiff City continued their pre-season tour of Austria with a hard-fought draw with South African champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

Joel Colwill's goal just after the break looked enough to seal a second straight pre-season win for the Bluebirds, only for Tashreeq Matthews to restore parity deep into the second half following a well-worked counter.

Cardiff boss Erol Bulut, keen to cast his eye over as many players as possible on this trip, made nine changes to the side that started the win over Hamburg over the weekend, although there was still no place in the squad for summer signings Calum Chambers and Chris Willock. Both could well be involved for Thursday's clash with Hertha Berlin.

Despite the disappointment of the late equaliser, Bulut will, on the whole, have been reasonably pleased with what he saw here, with his side easing themselves onto the front foot for much of the first half.

David Turnbull stung the palms of Sundowns goalkeeper Jody February with a long-range effort as part of a bright opening for Bluebirds, although the South Africans did pose a threat themselves during the opening exchanges.

Khuliso Mudau got in behind down the right before flashing a low ball across goal, but just beyond the lurking Thapelo Maseko.

Jak Alnwick then had to be alert to keep out a curling freekick, but Cardiff soon found their feet again.

Callum Robinson crashed an effort narrowly over the bar, while Turnbull similarly couldn't keep his shot down moments later.

Bulut made four changes to his side at the break, with American
