What just happened in Cardiff City's pre-season clash with Reading

Callum Robinson sent Erol Bulut yet another reminder of his abilities as a striker as he notched his fifth and sixth goals of pre-season during Cardiff City's 2-1 pre-season win over Reading.

Robinson struck early to hand the Bluebirds the lead before Femi Azeez levelled not long after. But it was Robinson, who was entrusted with a full 90 minutes in the striker role, who came up with the goods late on as he tapped home from close range to seal the win.

Cardiff have signed forward Wilfried Kanga on loan from Hertha BSC this season, but Robinson has done his chances no harm this summer, comfortably topping the Bluebirds' pre-season scoring charts with six goals to his name and still with one more game to go.

The Bluebirds, who were watched by imminent new signing Anwar El Ghazi from the stands, were gifted a fantastic start to the game when Robinson, who was alert and hungry, charged down Royals 'keeper Coniah Boyce-Clarke to deflect his pass into an open net. A nightmare for the goalkeeper, but Robinson didn't care as he saw his fifth pre-season strike roll into the back of the net.

But Cardiff allowed Reading to restore parity with a mistake of their own when former Reading man Andy Rinomhota was dispossessed facing his own goal, 20 yards out, allowing the ball to fall into Femi Azeez's path and he whipped home the leveller on 12 minutes.

Cardiff looked the livelier of the two sides, though, and carved out a number of chances, including David Turnbull's rasping low shot from 25 yards which was saved and Rubin Colwill's shot over the bar after his dancing shoes drove him into the box.
