What is the best Rangers XI? Michael Beale fields 10 different teams this season but what is your strongest lineup?

It’s been far from a perfect 10 as Michael Beale hit double digits for competitive Rangers games this season.

And much of that has been down to his search for a perfect XI as the Ibrox boss tries to come up with the best blend for his new Light Blues recruits. The Englishman made six changes for the much-needed win over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park from the side that lost at home to Celtic before the international break.

And after the victory in Perth – courtesy of goals from Danilo and substitute Rabbi Matondo – former Rangers striker and Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd reckons there were still as many questions as answers, saying: “I don't think Michael Beale is any further forward in getting a starting XI he can trust week after week after week. It's a conundrum now Beale faces with Matondo because every time he comes on he does something but when you start him, he doesn't quite hit the levels. Is he a substitute where he just comes on and has an impact?”

Ben Davies looked to be heading for the Ibrox exit at one point during the summer, just 12 months after arriving from Liverpool. But he replaced John Souttar in the heart of defence to form a pairing with Connor Goldson. Borna Barisic was unavailable for the Old Firm derby and Dujon Sterling was forced to start at left back with Ridvan Yilmaz not fit enough to complete 90 minutes, although the ex Besiktas man came on against Celtic and started against St Johnstone. But the Turkey international isn’t included in the Europa League squad, with Gers kicking off their group campaign at home to Real Betis on Thursday.
