What Cody Gakpo has said about his future amid Manchester United transfer links

PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo has already confirmed that he will not be rushed into making any decision on his future this summer amid Manchester United's reported interest in his signature.

According to a report by Sky Sports, United are 'preparing' a move for the highly-rated Dutchman. Manager Erik ten Hag remains keen to add to his attacking armoury before the transfer window closes and has been on the hunt for a new winger all summer.

Ten Hag has prioritised the addition of a new wide player and initially earmarked Ajax ace Antony as his top target to solve that particular quest. However, Ten Hag's former club have made it clear that they are not prepared to sell the Brazilian, unless for a huge fee.

Instead it seems Gakpo is on United's radar. The 23-year-old — who shares the same agency as Ten Hag — excelled for PSV last season, scoring a very impressive 21 goals and grabbing 15 assists in 46 appearances in all competitions.

He has started this season in similar fashion, grabbing three goals and two assists in just four appearances in all competitions. It is, therefore, little surprise that many clubs are being linked with his signature.

But despite the ongoing speculation, Gakpo, speaking back in May, confirmed that he would not make any decision on his future lightly this summer. He is keeping a firm eye on the World Cup later this year and his hopes of making the Netherlands squad.

"Anything can happen this summer," Gakpo told De Telegraaf. "I will now calmly compare all the options and see what is best for me.

"Staying another year is also an option. It would be a shame if I went somewhere where I wouldn't get a job at all
